Casino Win Caps Explained: Bonus, Slot and Payout Limits

A big win on screen is not always a big win in your bank. Five kinds of cap can cut it down, from a bonus max win to a weekly withdrawal limit. Each one comes from a casino’s own terms and conditions.

Casino win caps: the five kinds

A win cap of any kind limits how much you are allowed to keep of a win. They vary in where they are located, and what kind of player they catch.

Eight caps from the casinos we've reviewed, sorted by the kind of rule.

The first two only come into play if you have taken a bonus offer. A weekly withdrawal limit is of concern to all players. The last two are built into the games, and no casino can remove them.

Bonus max win rules: the cap most players miss

Losing a big win because of a bonus offer is the easiest to understand, and three casinos permit you to keep some part of your win from a bonus offer.

$120the most Spin Casino has to pay after a $20 first deposit and a welcome bonus, at 6x
$50Rainbet's limit on anything won from a welcome or affiliate promo code (terms 9.2)
1.2 mBTC7Bit's cap on free spin winnings, around $100

An example of this is Spin Casino. If you deposit $20, clear a 35x wagering requirement and win $1,000, your withdrawal can still be capped at $120. Rainbet has a similar cap, “any balance exceeding this limit will be forfeited”.

Bonuses can be tricky. A welcome offer at 7Bit casino has a maximum bet of 12 μBTC a spin, which is just about a dollar. Also, bonus money can’t be played on progressive jackpot slots. Playing without a bonus can be more profitable.

Slot max win: the cap no casino can lift

Each slot has a set max win, determined by the studio. These max wins have been hit on stream.

  1. 50,000xLicence to Squirrel
  2. 50,000xCoins and Cauldrons
  3. 50,000xFat Eddie
  4. 10,000xMax Win Machine

Bars to scale. Each max win was landed by Roshtein, per his own site.

The math is simple. The bigger the bet, the bigger the win. Licence to Squirrel pays out 50,000 times the bet with a max win of $25 million on a $500 bet. A $1 bet has a max win of $50,000. On that $1 bet, the slot can pay out $50,000 and that's it.

Casinos have the same system but the ceiling is in dollars instead. Thrill Limbo has multipliers up to 1,000,000x, but the max win is $200,000. Stake has a ceiling of 2,500,000 USDT on their Originals bets. Always check a game's info screen before making a big bet to see the caps.

Withdrawal caps: when a win is paid in pieces

The caps affect every single huge win. The casino technically gives out the money, but pays it out a slice at a time.

  1. Grand Mondial

$4,000 a week for big winners. A $1 million win would take almost five years to cash out.

  2. Jackpot City and Spin Casino

GBP 10,000 in any 24 hours, and €4,000 a week once you've withdrawn five times your lifetime deposits.

  3. 7Bit

0.12 BTC a week and 0.48 BTC a month. Progressive jackpot wins are paid in full outside these limits.

How to find a win cap before you play

The limits usually aren't posted on the home page. Terms and Conditions are your friend.

  • Search the terms: look for "maximum", "limit", "cap", "exceed", "forfeit" and "void". Each one points at a rule that can cut a win.
  • Read the bonus terms separately: the bonus max win is usually there, not in the general terms.
  • Open the game's info screen: slots state their max win, and casino-made games their highest payout per bet.
  • Check jackpot exceptions: some casinos exempt progressive jackpots from their limits. See what happens when you win a jackpot.

Every casino review on our reviews page has a cap quote, section number included if it exists.

Gambling is for adults only (18+, or older where local law says so). Treat every deposit as money spent on entertainment, never as a way to make money. If it stops being fun, take a break with the casino's own tools or talk to Gambling Therapy, which offers free support in many languages.
